FWACB
In 1979 Dr. William Schlacks, then director of instrumental music at IPFW was the creative person behind the formation of the Fort Wayne Area Community Band. He brought great insight into forming an organization that would bring a new sense of culture and entertainment to the Fort Wayne Area. Under his competent direction, the newly established band practiced every Tuesday, established an internal governing organization, elected officers and a board of directors and gave its first concert just five months later.
The FWACB now gives concerts at a number of events including Foellinger Theater and a full winter concert series in the Auer Auditorium in the Rhinehart Music Center on the campus of IPFW. Go to the map on our Concert Schedule page of this website for directions.
